Jungle Cat Cacao makes small-batch, artisan chocolate from Belizean cacao. We are a single-origin chocolatier. All of the cocoa butter used in our recipes comes from the same beans we roast to make our chocolate. We source 100% of our cacao from the Toledo District of Belize. Our cacao is grown sustainably and naturally and is tended by Belizean workers earning a living wage.
We also have a cacao farm, situated in the rain-forest, under old-growth trees, beside the Moho River in Belize. Our trees will hopefully be ready for a first harvest by 2024. Many endangered species live in the rainforest on the property where we have our farm, including the jaguar for which the company is named. We are preserving the acreage under our control by farming and not logging. By supporting Jungle Cat Cacao you are as well.
Jungle Cat Cacao’s first product in stores is called the “Jagu-Bar”. This is a 60% cacao chocolate bar with two ingredients: Belizean cacao and unrefined cane sugar. Belizean cacao has a unique “grape” or “raspberry” tropical flavor. Chocolate made from Belizean cacao will forever change your opinion of how delicious and non-bitter dark chocolate can be. It will make a Belize-er out of you!
The Jungle Cat Cacao Cafe is now open and serving bean-to-bar chocolate along side organic Costa Rican coffee which we espresso roast in-house. All beverages are made with filtered water brought in from Holly Ridge (no GenX). Please come, order at the sliding glass door and enjoy a seat outside. We offer WIFI and even have a restroom!
Please look for the “Jagu-Bar” in Lowe’s Foods and Publix grocery stores in Coastal North Carolina. In the Chapel Hill, Raleigh, and Durham area please look for them in Weaver Street Market stores and The Durham Co-op.
